Voice (Aaron St Louis) is the 2016 International Soca Monarch.
The San Juan-born singer was announced winner of the competition, held at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port of Spain, on Friday night, following a delayed broadcast last night.
Performing in the penultimate position Voice poured everything he had into his Carnival 2016 monster hit “Cheers to Life” and got everything in return from a large receptive audience.
The former Soca Star contestant showed immense confidence and remarkable composure for a first timer on the ISM finals stage as he took his time on his opening notes before leaving the audience to sing the remainder of the hook.
He later called out defending monarch Olatunji and title contenders Third Bass (Adrian Hackshaw) and Farmer Nappy (Darryl Henry), extemporaneously declaring himself the winner.
